40 Days

Our 40 Days of Purpose kick-off party was yesterday. It went quite well. It was a fun time. My highlight was when a friend of mine showed up. I really intended to invite my whole neighborhood block, it just didn't happen. However, I did get a chance to invite a friend that I went to high school with that lives here in Q-town. We graduated together in '95 and it is pretty weird that we end up in the same town.

I bump into him at the mall occassionally, which is odd because I don't go to the mall much. Then, last week I met up with him in frozen foods at Wal-Mart. Okay, not met up like "hey, wanna meet next Sunday in frozen foods" but met up like bumped into one another. Okay, not bumped literally, but I think you get me.

Anyway, we start talking and I invite him to come check out things at our open house. He said he would because he likes to make Sunday a family day. So, him and his wife/girlfriend (sorry, can't remember which) show up with their kids. It was really great. We had a good talk. I don't know where he is spiritually, except to say he is searching.

I hope he has found a safe place to search. I hope he comes again. I hope we get to randomly bump into one another again. Better yet, I will make sure we do. This leads me to a question:

Do you think anything is random to God?

I have a friend who says that "coincidences are God's way of remaining anonymous". I really like that. Don't wait around for a glowing sign or a burning bush. Just make the most of every opportunity. Man, Paul should have put that in a letter or something.

Random to us, to keep us surprised and amazed at how cool He really is, but not random to Him. I love stories like this. Keep us posted and glad it went well. I've been praying...

I don't believe in good/bad luck either. To me it's saying that God isn't in control and that just by "chance", it happened.

I'm thankful that you can see when He is working - the mall, Wallyworld - outside of the holy building. Some people can't!
